Our Star Spangled Banner

jamesflagsmallEven though James still has a hard time pronouncing the “F” in flag, he had a great time decorating our yard with flags for the 4th of July.

I pray that the high price our fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers paid for our freedom will not be lost or forgotten with our smaller generation.

Boys of Summer

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Joshua is 15 weeks old now and is sleeping great in his crib!  He is very close to sleeping all night too!  Most of the time he wakes up between 4 and 5 for a feeding and then goes back to sleep.  Today he rolled from his stomach to his back for the first time–he is so determined not to lay on his stomach.  Joshua is such a joy to me and Ryan, we love him so much.

James is now a big boy and sleeping in his brand new toddler bed!  He is doing great at staying in his room at bedtime and eventually ending up asleep in his bed!  During the day, I have found him in Joshua’s crib snuggled up with his blanket and stuffed animals.   Old habits die hard I guess.  He also likes to transfer his toys from his room to Joshua’s room.  Ryan calls him a toy transfer technician.  We are trying to help James understand that both rooms are not his.  Life with a toddler is never dull.

Here are some pictures of our boys.

Spring Times

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

Joshua is eight weeks old!  He is smiling and cooing and is just such a sweet baby.  These days go by so quick–so we hold him lots and take many pictures!!  I still find it amazing we have two boys!  Lots of times I’m holding Joshua and I’ll remember James at this age–you can certainly tell they’re brothers.  James still seems to be doing okay with having a new baby brother although we are continually teaching him what the word ‘gentle’ means.  Going from one child to two is a big transition–my days are busier and go so much faster!

I was just finishing the above blog when James starting crying from the other end of the basement.  I could tell from the way he was standing it was a foot issue and from the way he was crying I knew it was bad.  I went over and looked and he had stepped on a staple and both prongs had gone in–one of them way in.  I started yelling and Ryan met me on the stairs and carried James into the bathroom.  I removed the staple and then Ryan held his foot under the tub faucet until the bleeding stopped.  Of course James wailed throughout the entire ordeal until about an hour afterwards.  He is okay now, his foot has been cleaned and bandaged.  He is walking on his toes now and having a fine afternoon.  What would a Saturday morning be like without our wonderful little James.

Here are some pictures, Enjoy!
