I got a "wheel" job

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Finally got my wheels fixed to the tune of $2844.37.  It’s nice to be rolling again but my car is only worth $2000 or less.  Something just doesn’t add up.

Oh, I forgot, it be Talk Like a Pirate Day!  The above should read…

My sister sent me this very cute picture of James with his cousin Giselle.  The captions are her creations.

"Cruzin’ till the tires fall off…"

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Yep, it happened to me.  As I was heading out of our subdivision last Saturday evening, the front driver side tire of my 96′ Chrysler Sebring fell to the pavement with a sickening grid.  The car was blocking traffic and I had no phone to call for help.  I wasn’t that far from our house and I got a quick ride from somebody back to my house to call AAA for a tow.

I arrived back at the scene 15 minutes later and found 2 police cars waiting for me.  When I showed up 1 of the police officers drove off, going on about his business I guess.  The second one didn’t seem too happy.

In a militant, disgusted voice the police officer shouts: “SIR!, DO YOU THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA LEAVING YOUR VEHICLE WITH NO FLASHERS ON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!!??”

A feeling dumb and frustrated Ryan says:  “No, I didn’t have a phone in my car so I went home, called for a tow truck and they will be here in about 10 minutes.”

A now seemingly happy and jovial police office says:  “Oh, ok, no problem.”

After doing some “work” in his car he comes out and angrily shouts again “SIR, WHAT TOW TRUCK COMPANY DID YOU CALL!!???”

“Howard’s Towing” says Ryan.  “Oh ok, no problem” says police officer, happy again.

Guess the officer had some mood swings.  I finally got my car towed and as of today I’m still waiting on it to be fixed.

We’ll be seeing the family over Labor Day weekend and enjoying the Cincinnati Riverfest Fireworks!

See you all soon!

Ain’t It A Butte!

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Ouch! While James was chasing Sprite around the house, he fell hard against our window sill in our living room.  Hit his eye good and hard!

It didn’t seem to bother him too much.  He cried good for about five seconds then he was back laughing and playing.

I’m sure it doesn’t compare to some of your children’s bumps, bruises and breaks but he was proud of his battle wound.

Happy Birthday James!!

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

On July 18th James turned TWO!  We celebrated with some family and friends and everyone had lots of fun.   I keep waiting for a good picture of my little boy with cake all over his face, but he is not interested in eating cake yet.  Maybe next year.  Ryan and I got James a sand box which he seems to be enjoying.  He also loves the red Radio Flyer wagon and wants a ride whenever we go outside.  Believe it or not his favorite birthday toy was an automatic bubble blower my friend got for him–he could play with that all day.

james2James really likes to be with me wherever I’m working in the house.   Most of the rooms are child accessible except the kitchen.  When I’m busy with meals or baking, he will pull a kitchen chair to where I’m working and stand there while I work.  He especially enjoys watching me make cookies as he helps himself to some of the batter as I drop spoonfuls on baking sheets.

On a last note, James seems to be developing a strong arm.  Lots of his toys are becoming dangerous flying objects since he has learned how to throw.  He chucked a hard plastic ball at me and hit me in the ear–wow that hurt.  Ryan and I are now much more aware of what he grabs and more quick to protect ourselves as well as the cat.
